Do you feel your marriage is over or are you considering separating from your spouse or partner?

The divorce laws changed in April 2022. You do not now need to show the court the reason for the end of your marriage.

Previously, you had to show one of five reasons for the end of your marriage. This was placing blame on the other party.

However, the new laws do not place blame on either party for the breakdown of the marriage. This is aimed to reduce any bad feeling between the parties and to deal with the breakdown of the relationship in as amicable manner as is possible.  This is beneficial to the parties and to the children of the family who will be affected by the breakdown.
